CWS supports pupils with special needs |01 December 2015

Children with special needs at the Baie Ste Anne primary school on Praslin are set to benefit from a wide range of entertainment and educational programmes now that Cable & Wireless have given them free TV connection to access these programmes.

Earlier this year a team from the Cable & Wireless Seychelles (CWS) foundation travelled to the school on Praslin and happily gave their time to renovate three classrooms reserved as a centre for children with special needs.

The classrooms were afterwards furnished with a 50-inch plasma screen TV, a music system, educational books and games along with a new air conditioning system, two computers and seven tablets.

The donation, which is the result of a CWS foundation campaign called ‘Happy to Give’, has been made possible on account of the huge involvement of customers who generously gave their Cable Points to three CWS causes, one of which was the mentioned centre.

Albert Duncan, who is responsible for public relations at CWS, said they matched each point and turned the total into cash amounting to R101,625 to fund each cause.

As a follow-up action, the team returned to Praslin last Friday to provide the children with a free CWS TV connection and provide lunch for their parents and teachers.

The pupils are expected to get more educational presents as CWS continues with its initiatives to give back to the community.
The pupils also presented tokens of appreciation to the CWS team.

The head teacher of the school, Magda Rose, said the school really welcomes such initiatives from any organisations or individuals who come forward to offer their help.
“The donation will not only benefit the pupils with special needs but others as well and it will no doubt help them in their learning process and the school is very grateful for that,” Ms Rose said.
