Building communities through the act of giving |19 December 2015

The International School Seychelles (ISS) holds true to its motto ‘You are not born for yourself, but for the world’ as it seeks to build relationships with other schools and children in the country.

In line with this, primary teachers and pupils from the school recently presented gifts to La Rosière primary pupils.

This school’s activity lays claim to emphasis on the development of the whole child.  It believes that the act of giving and sharing gives children a powerful boost in self-esteem as they realise that they can make a difference in someone’s life.  The teachers work with the children to make giving and sharing a natural part of what they do all with the aim of growing them into kind, charitable and giving adults.

This activity allowed students through the help of their parents to flex their charitable muscles and to experience the joy of giving.  The excitement and gratitude on the La Rosière children’s faces were priceless.

The year 2015 saw the ISS engage with special needs coordinators, history teachers and the Bel Ombre primary school to share expertise and experience.  The school plans to continue exploring other opportunities to work with other educational partners in the community towards the goal of quality education for all.
