Police communiqué |09 February 2016

The police have started an investigation whereby a man has been admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Seychelles Hospital as a result of an accident which occurred at Port Glaud.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a Hyundai i10 car travelling from Port Glaud to Béolière hit against a rock and the vehicle overturned. In the said car were three passengers and one sustained head injuries. The male victim was brought to the Anse Boileau clinic before being transferred to Seychelles Hospital and thereafter admitted in ICU. His condition has been described as stable.

It was police officers on mobile patrol who came across this accident on February 6 at around 1am.

A 32-year-old man of Au Cap, Praslin, reportedly found unconscious by a passerby in a footpath near a house at Cap Samy, Baie Ste Anne last Saturday evening, was pronounced dead upon been transported to hospital by ambulance. Observation carried out on the man, identified as Ricky Hétimier, showed no physical injuries. 

The police are investigating the case while awaiting post mortem result to determine his cause of death. The incident was reported to the police at 8.45pm.

The police have also started an investigation in a case whereby a couple assaulted each other with machete following a family dispute reported to have happened sometime after 9pm on Saturday at Takamaka.

Both were transported to the Seychelles Hospital by ambulance where they were admitted after receiving medical attention for injuries sustained to the head, forehead, shoulder and arm.

The police are investigating an incident whereby a French sailor was wounded by a sharp object in the early hours of Sunday at Tequila Boom discotheque car park. The victim has sustained injuries to his face, arms and on his back.

The police are searching for a man in his late 20s who hails from Roche Caïman being prime suspect in that case.
