Letter to the Editor - We are what we eat … |11 February 2016

We talk a lot about OBESITY these days, and rightly, so, because it is a menace to our health, causing diabetes, in particular, ever on the increase in Seychelles, as well as putting a strain on our heart.

Obesity is largely due to 'bad bacteria' in our system which also stop the progress of weight loss.

Consuming so-called 'diet drinks' is no solution and tends to make matters even worse together with those fizzy drinks and sugary foods that we like.

The ideal thing is to drink plenty of plain water, not forgetting coconut water, which helps in flushing away the bad bacteria.

There is also something available on the market called 'forskolin extract' which may help.

Much has to be said also about the importance of 'physical exercise' even if it means a mere walk from time to time, ideally three times a week, and of course, eating the right food all the time. We are what we eat...
