Setting the mood for Valentine’s Day |13 February 2016

A spectacle of red and white décor and a variety of tempting and colourful objects, some cuddly others ideal to lighten up a Valentine’s night, greeted visitors as they entered the Camion Hall compound in Victoria yesterday.

The spectacle, in the form of a fair, was organised by Senpa (Small Entrepreneurs Promotion Agency) to liven up the atmosphere in town in preparation for Valentine’s Day tomorrow. It was also an ideal occasion for those with love in their hearts to buy unique ‘Made-in-Seychelles’ gifts for that special someone.

Senpa’s representative Medjee Morgan said Senpa was impressed with the over 20 artisans who had made remarkable efforts to produce an interesting range of craft fitting for Valentine’s Day.

“We are really proud that many participants were able to make it to the Valentine’s fair. We do know that February has long been celebrated as a month of romance, but it is important to share the love not only on Valentine’s Day, but everyday with the entire family and loved ones,” she said.

Diane Cedras, the owner of ‘Ced Eco access’, a newly established business, was ready to show what she had to offer.

“I came today to make my first sale for my business. The materials that I use are environmentally friendly. Today I am selling teddy bears, cakes, Valentine glasses and many more,” she said.

Clients could also buy cuddly ‘I Love You’ teddy bear, heart-shaped cushions, Valentine’s Day card and even handmade jewellery at the fair.

There was also a special photo booth where people could take photos as a keepsake for the occasion.

In the afternoon the artisans and people who came to the fair were entertained by live music.

Senpa has been organising the Valentine’s fair for the past 12 years.

Accompanying the article are some photos taken at the fair yesterday.
