Large Seychelles delegation at ITB tourism trade fair |12 March 2016

A large Seychelles delegation comprising the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange, the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Sherin Naiken and representatives of the country’s private sector trade are in Berlin in Germany for the 2016 edition of the ITB Tourism Trade Fair.

Also part of the Seychelles delegation are Edith Hunzinger, the STB’s manager based in Germany and Bernadette Willemin, the STB’s director for Europe.

Germany remains one of the main source tourism markets for Seychelles and Europe as a whole continues to be curtailed for Seychelles tourism.

This year the German airline Condor is planning to introduce its second weekly flight between Frankfurt and Seychelles which will again help consolidate arrival numbers from Germany.

“Germany remains a market that knows us, that enjoys Seychelles as their holiday destination and that remains ready to work with us. Germany is sending two delegations at this year’s Carnaval International de Victoria. For the first time both Dusseldorf and Koln Carnivals will be parading in the streets of Victoria with their German flags. This will continue to help raise the awareness of Seychelles in Germany as both German delegations will be followed by an armada of German press. But in Berlin, we are also meeting with Condor to be updated on the arrival of its second weekly flight as from September and also meet key German tour operators to ensure we continue to claim our fair share of that market and also of the bigger European tourism market,” said Minister St Ange before leaving for Berlin earlier this week.

“We are happy to see so many of our private sector trade standing with us as we go out to increase the visibility of our islands,” said Minister St Ange.

Ms Naiken is heading the STB's team and the island's private sector is being represented by Air Seychelles, Avani Seychelles, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts,

Berjaya Resorts Seychelles, Coco de Mer Hotel, Coral Strand Hotel, Creole Travel Services, Denis Private Island & Co., Eden Bleu Hotel, Fisherman’s Cove, Hilton Hotels Seychelles, H Resort, Enchanted Island Resort, Kempinski, Maia Luxury Resort, Paradise Sun Hotel, Mason’s Travel, North Island, Pure Seychelles Hotels, Raffles Praslin, Savoy Resort & Spa, 7° South, Ste Anne Resort and VPM Yacht Charter.
