No substance to allegations of improper payments in relation to security matters in 2008 |04 May 2016

Following reports in the written press relating to accusations of improper payments in relation to security matters in 2008, the Ministry of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy has stated in a communiqué that it is government policy not to comment on any payments related to national security issues.
However, it has added, that all payments in the period under question were made from the consolidated fund in line with financial regulations and Audited by the auditor general.
The Ministry of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy of has further stated that it is satisfied, in accordance with the audited annual financial statements of accounts of 2008 by the auditor general, that there is no substance to the allegations.
The communiqué ends by saying that the Ministry of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy has welcomed the creation of the Anti-Corruption Commission and any citizen has the right to submit allegations or concerns for investigation by the commission.
