Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016 |25 May 2016

Gifts and cocktail for all coming to the pageant

The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) has announced that final touches are being put to this Saturday’s Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016 beauty pageant at the ICCS and that all guests attending will be presented with a souvenir gift and also served with a cocktail reception after the show.

STB’s chief executive Sherin Naiken said this added touch to this year’s pageant will give value for money whereby a colourful glittering and spectacular pageant made up with a state-of-the-art sound and light show together with gifts being offered to all guests and a cocktail reception after the show is definitely something not to be missed”.

“In the past, pageants were held in hotels and a gala dinner was served during the show, but due to the rainy seasons and capacity of guests in these resorts, we have opted to go for an indoor venue, thus choosing the ICCS,” she said.

She explained that resorts were not willing to host 300 guests over a gala dinner and the pageant together with the sound, lights and other logistics saying it would be a major disruption to their in-house guests.

Ms Naiken explained that this year the tickets were selling at R700 compared to over R1700 last year. There were complaints that tickets were previously too expensive but now we have reduced the costs and made it affordable inclusive of the gifts and a cocktail reception after the show.

Meanwhile, the 12 contestants are undergoing final rehearsals for the big night this Saturday.

The pageant will kick off at 7.30pm once the guests arrive an hour earlier and the show is expected to run for three hours during which the 12 contestants will parade in their casual, swimwear and evening gowns before the panel of jury.

During the past three months, the contestants have followed intensive training and grooming in cat walking, choreography, positive thinking, public speaking, etiquette, protocol procedures, media interviews, gym fitness, culture and traditions, tourism and history of Seychelles among many others.

This Saturday, the winners of People’s Choice, Miss Photogenic, Miss Talent, Miss Sports, Miss Personality, Best Evening Gown and the best Beauty With A Purpose project will be announced alongside the top three winners.

Artistic director Raymond Clarisse and his technical and logistics support team have promised a glittering show of sound, lights and music with a line-up of local artists which will definitely thrill the 600-odd viewers attending the pageant.

Tickets for the pageant are still on sale at the STB head office at Espace building and the STB Information Office at Independence House. For any enquiries please call 4671300.
