Ifad’s new regional director for East and Southern Africa visits |31 May 2016

Sana Foday Kebba Jatta, the International Fund for Agricultural Development’s (Ifad) new regional director for East and Southern Africa arrives in Seychelles this  evening for a three-day working visit.

Mr Jatta, a Gambian national, replaces Seychellois Perin St Ange who was appointed Chief of Staff and Director of the Office of the President and Vice- President since February 2015.

Mr Jatta will be accompanied on this first visit to Seychelles by Valantine Achancho, Seychelles Ifad’s country programme officer.

Mr Jattajoined Ifad in 1987, and has since worked in various capacities including technical advisor, project controller, country portfolio manager, and country programme manager in fifteen countries: 10 of which in Africa and five in the Asia and Pacific region, ranging from Cape Verde to China.

Prior to his present appointment, Mr Jatta was Ifad’s lead portfolio advisor for the Asia and the Pacific region in which capacity he assisted the regional director in strategic planning, business expansion, and day-to-day management of the division.

During his visit here Mr Jatta will hold talks with the Minister for Fisheries and Agriculture Wallace Cosgrow, the Minister for Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy Jean-Paul Adam, officials from the two ministries, Competitive Local Innovations for Small Scale Agriculture (Clissa) project team and visit agricultural projects on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
