‘Our children are loved and have a very special place in our hearts’ |01 June 2016

“Children’s Day is celebrated every year to pay tribute to all children all over the world.

“Here in Seychelles our children are loved and have a very special place in our hearts. Without you children life would become very boring for a lot of adults especially parents and teachers. Although some of you are very small, you still have the capabilities to change the nation positively. You are the responsible citizens of tomorrow and development of the country lies in your hands.

“As leaders of tomorrow you need to be protected, respected and kept safe all the time and I pray every day that every family will love and protect their little ones from all harm.

“Nowadays children are victims of many social ills like drugs, child abuse, alcohol, sex, and violence. This keeps them away from a healthy life, parental love, education, and other childhood enjoyments.

“Let Children’s Day be the day that we are reminded that children are our most valuable assets as well as the future and hope for a better Seychelles.

“So on this beautiful Children’s Day let us renew our efforts to remove all the barriers that are stopping our children from growing and realising their full potential.

“Let our children enjoy their innocence and childhood and allow them to be creative, to show their talents, have loads of fun and be happy.

“Happy Children’s Day.”
