Miss Seychelles ... Another World 2016 meets president |22 June 2016

Christine Barbier, Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016, called on President James Michel yesterday at State House where she briefed the head of state on her planned project, that of building a half-way home for children from children’s homes.

Miss Barbier was accompanied by the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) chief executive Sherin Naiken, as well as her two princesses ‒ Lianne Barbé and Samiya Albert.

“It was a pleasure for me to meet the president. We talked about my project as I want it to become a reality. He is ready to help me,” said Miss Barbier after her meeting with the head of state.

Miss Barbier’s project is about working with children who leave the children’s homes when they reach the age of 18. She wants to build a half-way home for them as they can no longer stay at their former homes. She explained that this will be a kind of hostel or apartment.

“Like those who cannot return to their parents or having other difficulties, they can get a home for them. We are in the process of getting a piece of land and from there planning work will proceed,” said Miss Barbier.

Regarding her preparation for her future involvement in the Miss World pageant, Miss Barbier said she is currently working on a talent show and actively taking part in sports activities.
