Bus services for National Day activities |24 June 2016

Buses will be made available from June 26-29 to allow members of the public to take part in the National Show at the National Sports Council (NSC) Hall, Roche Caïman.

The Seychelles Public Transport Company (SPTC) has said it will be providing additional buses from the different districts to the Victoria Bus Terminal as from 9am on all four days.

Services will be based on demand and in addition a shuttle service will be available from the Victoria Bus Terminal to the NSC Hall and back.

Pick up at the Bus Terminal is on platform S (Roche Caïman). Drop off and pick up at NSC Hall is at Ste Anne jetty.

Depending on load, a back-up service will be available alongside normal scheduled night services departing the Victoria Bus Terminal.

The last buses will depart from the Ste Anne jetty straight to the districts at 10pm on June 26 and 27. On June 28 they will leave the Ste Anne jetty at 1am.

Buses for National Day parade

As for National Day on June 29, there will be additional buses from districts as from 12 noon to the Victoria Bus Terminal depending on load.

There will be free shuttle service from the Victoria Bus Terminal to Stad Linite as from 1pm depending on load. The boarding point at the Victoria Bus Terminal is platform S (Roche Caïman).

Special buses displaying STAD LINITE will depart the districts to Stad Linite at 3pm and passengers will pay their normal R5 fare

All buses with STAD LINITE destination board will drop off their passengers along the Providence Highway, precisely at Stad Linite’s south gate.

After the parade, buses will depart for the different districts between 9pm and 10pm and the bus fare will be R5. Boarding will be along the stretch of road between the Victoria-South petrol station and the Eden Island roundabout.

All buses going south and west will line up facing Providence and those heading up to Anse Aux Pins will take the Cascade road upon arriving at the Providence roundabout.

Buses travelling north and central regions including those going via La Misère will face Victoria.

After the 10pm services, there will be no more buses available and the SPTC is advising members of the public to respect the departure times to avoid inconveniences.

The SPTC would like to point out that except for the shuttle service which is free, all other fares will be at R5.

The transportation company has also said that members of the public:

1. must respect the bus timings,

2. must not overload the buses at any time (SPTC personnel will be monitoring and SPTC will be strict on that); and

3. should use SPTC facilities in a responsible manner for their own safety and that of the drivers.
