Local chef promoted to position at Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi |01 July 2016

Chef Joel Laporte of Anse aux Pins is the third Seychellois employee of Four Seasons Resort Seychelles to transfer within the company to another Four Seasons property outside Seychelles.

Laporte has been promoted to Commis I chef at the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi.

The 25-year-old has been working at the luxury Four Seasons Resort Seychelles for two years, after completing his two-year training course at the Seychelles Tourism Academy.

During this short period he has been able to develop his culinary skills as a Commis II chef in two of the resort’s kitchens, currently working in the In Villa Dining kitchen preparing a variety of dishes for the resort’s guests.

When asked about the move, Laporte commented: “I am both scared and excited at the challenge of transferring to another property and being away from home for the first time.”

As a particularly career driven individual, the move has come as no surprise to his family and friends who are all very supportive of his decision to move and to follow his chosen path to becoming a chef.

Laporte will join a number of other colleagues in Abu Dhabi who also transferred from Seychelles, including Persia Benoit, the assistant director of human resources who was the first Seychellois to transfer within the company this year.

Some other colleagues who have also made the move include Cliffton Rachel who transferred as a Chef de Partie to Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru and Sarah Victor who will soon go on a one-year exchange to Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa.
