Primary Six National Examinations 2015 |02 July 2016

High achievers rewarded

Pupils who excelled in last year’s Primary Six National Examinations were awarded for their achievement in their respective subjects.

The award presentation ceremony was held yesterday at the Site auditorium (ex-NIE) in the presence of the Minister for Education Macsuzy Mondon, the principal secretary for early childhood, primary and secondary education Merida Delcy, the principal secretary for tertiary education, policy planning and administration Linda Barallon, ministry officials, along with parents and pupils.

In her address, Ms Barallon said the award ceremony marks a milestone in the education of these students.

“In line with its medium-term strategy, the Ministry of Education is determined to undertake various strategies to improve teaching and learning and in the same light it is committed to promoting success in our schools. The award ceremony is a testimony of this commitment,” she said.

She pointed out that the students are being rewarded for their effort and hard work.

“The students are being rewarded for their tremendous effort that they have placed in their studies which has paid off in the final exam. The teachers who have worked tirelessly with those students need to be praised for their hard work. You have performed well in your primary education and it is anticipated that this strong drive to excel will continue throughout your secondary education and beyond,” she added.

She concluded by saying that the ministry will continue to provide the necessary resources and conditions to facilitate teaching and learning.

The award winners are pupils from state schools who scored the highest mark in each subject such as Mathematics French, Science, Social Studies and Kreol.

Certificates and awards were also presented to the three pupils who scored the highest marks nationally, and they are Tyrell Servina from Plaisance who came out first with a total score of 533; Nathalia Pillay from Anse Etoile in second place with a score of 523; and Carl Gedeon from Pointe Larue in third place with a total score of 522. They all received a certificate and a prize sponsored by the Minister for Education.

Minister Mondon presented the certificates and prizes to the pupils, who also received a tablet as prize.
