Amirantes Fisheries wins prize for best exhibitor

Amirantes Fisheries (Pty) Limited Seychelles won first prize for best exhibitor at the Trade and Investment forum and exhibition held yesterday at the Savoy Resort & Spa at Beau Vallon.

Amirantes Fisheries was among some 50 exhibitors showcasing their products and services during the Afreximbank trade and investment forum.

Takamaka Bay of Trois Frères Distillery came out first runner-up with Ralph and Debra Forte second runner-up.

Amirantes Fisheries was set up in 2014 with the objective of adding further value to fish through secondary processing. The company imports fishing baits and other fishery products as may be needed by the local market.

It now specialises in export of small tunas (1kg) and bycatch (dorado, sailfish, marlin, king fish, and rainbow runner). Their main market is Sri Lanka with plans to expand further into the Middle East and Asia.

Fish trading is becoming a major area for expansion as Seychelles is seen as a major hub for tuna transshipment and landing.

The main objective of the Afreximbank trade exhibition is to contribute to deepening the sense of oneness, promote intra-regional trade and regional integration.

It aims to showcase the rich cultural diversity among the bank’s participating member countries; to support the development of small-scale businesses; to further networking among African traders and to offer African entrepreneurs a platform to explore new business opportunities and/or similar investment opportunities with their counterparties.
