Coconut oil mill |29 July 2016
In the last decade of the 19th century, a coconut oil mill was a common feature on most coconut estates in Seychelles. Until 1906, when most coconuts were turned into oil for export, a coconut mill was a source of substantial revenue to the coconut estate owner. Crushed copra from which coconut oil was extracted was called Poonac and was used locally for cattle food. A cow or a donkey was used to work the mill.
