‘Zenn Artis Kreolofonn’-Students gear up for regional painting competition |09 August 2016

The National Arts Council is organising a one-week arts workshop for secondary and post-secondary students.

The workshop, which opened yesterday and will end on Friday, will enable the students to prepare themselves for the ‘Zenn Artis Kreolofonn’ painting competition for the Festival Kreol.

It will also develop and nurture the artistic talents of students in secondary and post secondary institutions.

The workshop was officially opened yesterday morning at the National Arts Council (Nac) headquarters in Victoria in the presence of Nac staff and the students taking part.

The coordinator of arts development at Nac, Vivienne Croisée, stated that such workshop will enable the students to better understand the meaning of art.

“In April we did the same workshop for primary students; this week we are conducting the workshop only for secondary and post secondary students. All the paintings after this workshop will be put in a big competition called ‘Zenn Artis’ painting competition for the Festival Kreol in October where young artists from Mauritius, Reunion island, Rodrigues and Seychelles will compete against one another,” she said.

The students must apply to their paintings the traditional work of the past, such as fishing, sewing, among others.

On Friday, the parents will have the opportunity to witness the art work of their children and discuss with the organisers Colbert Nourrice, Alain Samson and Robert Alexis.
