EC registers new political party |18 August 2016

The Electoral Commission (EC) has approved the registration of a new political party bearing the name Lafors Sosyal Demokratik.

The EC says in a communiqué that this satisfies the requirements of the Political Parties (Registration and Regulation) Act.

The new party is led by Charles, Jimmy Gabriel as president/party leader. The other office bearers are Sharon, Joan Moses (secretary-general), Jean-Yves, Damien Sinon (treasurer), Sara, Daniella Denousse and Carol Dubel (members).

Meanwhile, in a separate development yesterday, the Supreme Court issued orders to the Electoral Commission not to register any party under the name Lafors Sosyal Demokratik (LSD), as well as that of Linyon Sanzman (LS) and to cancel any registration of any party and of any candidates using that name.
