Football: Airtel Cup - La Passe rip apart LightStars |26 August 2016

Malagasy Ludovigue got a hat-trick as Airtel Cup reigning champions La Passe bounced back from two draws in their inner islands pool to demolish LightStars 7-1 in a rescheduled Airtel Cup group match at the Amitié stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

La Digue-based La Passe had to win to keep alive their hopes of defending the Airtel Cup which they have won for the last two seasons.

The boys of coach Bruno Saindini blew their opponents off the pitch as Marcus Labiche opened the floodgates early in the first half only for Malagasy Ludovigue to double his team’s lead before half-time for a 2-0 advantage.

La Passe were unstoppable in the second half as captain Achille Henriette tucked home a penalty awarded by referee Gonzague Boniface for a 3-0 lead.

Labiche netted his brace soon after and Ludovigue made it 5-0 as he also bagged his brace.

Former LightStars midfielder Collin Esther added to his ex-team’s misery as he extended the La Digue’s team score to 6-0 and minutes later, Ludovigue scored his third goal of the match to make it 7-0.

Malagasy Mario Ravo struck a consolation goal for the Intelvision Cup holders late on for a final 7-1 demolition which helped to propel La Passe to the top of the group with six points and their final match will be against Revengers on Praslin tomorrow.
