Takamaka Health Centre and district resident get donation of equipment |31 August 2016

The hand-over ceremony

The Takamaka Health Centre will be more equipped after receiving a donation worth R42,000 from Airtel Seychelles.

At the same time, a vulnerable resident of that district, Ida Joubert, has received a donation of household equipment from Sullivan Motors.

The items were handed over during a ceremony yesterday at the Takamaka Health Centre in the presence of the managing director of Airtel Seychelles Amadou Dina, the deputy chief executive (CEO) of the Health Care Agency (HCA) Dr Danny Louange, among other officials of Airtel Seychelles, the Ministry of Health and Sullivan Motors.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, Airtel Seychelles has donated two big filling cabinets with suspensions files, one flat screen along with two ruck sacks for carrying equipment.

Mr Dina handed over the equipment to Dr Louange.

“Airtel Seychelles is donating to the Takamaka Health Centre as part of our CSR projects. We are giving back to the community, and donating to the health centre will benefit the district of Takamaka, along with the nursing staff at the centre,” Mr Dina said.

Dr Louange thanked Airtel Seychelles for such wonderful gesture and invited other private firms to also contribute to the community.

“It is not the first time that Airtel Seychelles has donated to the HCA. We are grateful to have a private company that keeps giving back to the community. Such donation will improve the health care status of the community,” Dr Louange said.

Representing Sullivan Motors, Sheilana Morel handed over a fridge, a cooker, a wardrobe and a microwave to Mrs Joubert.

Mrs Joubert was identified for the donation by a nurse at the Takamaka Health Centre, Mary-Jane Henriette, and Airtel Seychelles CSR coordinator Marie-Pierre Volcère, along with other members.

She was described as being “in desperate need of assistance”.

As a sign of appreciation, the community of Takamaka presented a fruit basket to Mr Dina.
