Paris-based Seychellois singer films video of new song in Seychelles |15 September 2016

Rita Romain, former singer, musician and keyboardist of the Nightshades back in 1978, has just released a new song and video called ‘Zis Larm’.

The song forms part of an album which she is compiling in Paris where she is now based.

The lyrics and music were proposed to her three years ago by local artist Jude de Comarmond but she hesitated to sing that song for she had just re-started her musical career (after a long break) on the Paris market and as our local music is not known there, she preferred to concentrate on the sega, seggae rythm and the Caribbean zouk which are more adapted when performing and to which the audience can dance too.

After having performed at the famous arena Le Zenith de Paris,  the well known music hall  Le Casino de Paris and took part in several musical shows, festivals, fashion shows and pageants, she decided that it was time to sing something softer and change the style.

Zis Larm’ is not only a ballad but a soft, emotional and melodious song. The song was released in June 2016 and it captured the audience. She wanted the clip to be done in Seychelles to show the beauty of our islands to those who have not been here. The song was recorded and mixed at Studio Garabello in Paris.

It took her a few days to hunt for ideal places for the filming. Rita had the privilege to be at prestigious places like Le Domaine de l’Orangeraie, with its idyllic location, Petite Amour Villa with its breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains, nature reserve and our famous Port Launay beach (her favourite beach where she used to go in her childhood).

La Digue island was a must for not having the oxcart in the video would not have added the Seychelles touch especially as it is very rare nowadays to see this rustic aspect of the island.

It must be noted that Rita has previously released other clips like ‘Lanmour Desire’, ‘J’ai tant besoin de toi’, ‘Chante la klerte’, just to name some. Watch Rita’s song on the following link:
