Qatar Airways has announce that effecting mid December this year it will be launching seven weekly flights to Seychelles from Doha.

At the IFTM Top Resa tourism trade fair in Paris last week, Qatar Airways used their display pop-up banners at the entrance walkways to the fair and also at their stand to showcase Seychelles as the new destination they will be opening daily flights to.

“Seychelles depends on tourism for its survival. It has done all the right things in the area of protection of its environment and in the construction of a good hotel infrastructure, but air access to main tourism source markets has always been the point raised by the island’s private sector trade. By the end of this year we shall be having 11 new weekly flights over and above what we have already. This is music to the ears of every tourism related businesses of the Seychelles,” said Minister Alain St Ange, Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism and Culture when he was in Paris last week.

Sherin Francis, the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) and Bernadette Willemin, the STB's Paris-based director for Europe, both met Qatar Airways representatives as they discussed the way forward for Seychelles tourism.
