First ever Kreol Cabaret a success |04 October 2016

In its efforts to incorporate the country’s vibrant culture into its entertainment programme, AVANI Seychelles Barbarons held its first ever Kreol Cabaret on Friday night.

Present at this auspicious event was the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange, Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Pillay, principal secretary for tourism Anne Lafortune, chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Sherin Francis, Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016 Christine Barbier, among other chief executives, general managers, directors and distinguished guests.

Following the success of the Bazaar Barbarons held every second and last Saturday of the month, the AVANI management is unveiling a series of events to position the resort as the flag bearer of the country’s cultural tourism, showcasing the various aspects of the Seychellois traditional folkloric heritage.

The Kreol Cabaret that promises to add spice to every last Friday evening of every month, features an exciting journey through Seychelles’ rhythmic dance moves starring popular showbiz entertainer Joseph Sinon and his Tanmi group.

As an added bonus on the opening night there was a surprise performance by renowned artist Antoinette Dodin.

The guests were kept on their toes as they enjoyed the show along various Creole dishes especially prepared by Seychellois chefs only.

The show with dinner adds a spice to the evening and provides the hotel guests with a rich tapestry that retraces the various music and dance moves of our islands.

The guests were also able to win various prizes in a small raffle.

The schedule for the Kreol Cabaret for this year is as follows: October 28, November 25 and December 30.

Congratulating AVANI for these initiatives, Minister St Ange said: “It is a real honour to see tourism industries take on the culture of Seychelles.”

He appealed to all DMCs (destination management companies) to support this initiative by encourage their clients to come and enjoy these lively performances and engage in our culture.

AVANI general manager Stephane Vilar said they are pleased to help bring back the memories of Seychelles.

“Hotels in Seychelles don’t really do much to showcase culture and this is a good start for us,” he said.
