2016 Ibrahim Index of African Governance - Seychelles gains two places to fourth |05 October 2016

Seychelles has gained two places to fourth position out of 54 African countries in the 2016 Ibrahim Index of African Governance.

The 10th annual Ibrahim Index of African Governance was launched in London this week.

This is an improvement after the country slid one position from fifth in 2014 to sixth in 2014.

Seychelles scored 72.6% to take fourth place behind Mauritius (79.9%), Botswana (73.7%) and Cape Verde (73.0%). Namibia (69.8%) completes the top five.

The bottom five were Eritrea (30.0%), Libya (29.0%), Central African Republic (25.7%), South Sudan (18.6%) and Somalia (10.6%).

The index ranks countries using figures derived from 95 indicators grouped under four overarching categories.
