Seychelles-India Day - Indian celebrities to grace gala night |12 October 2016

Every year, the Seychelles-India Day is planned to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, India’s freedom fighter who was born on October 2, 1869.

After hosting the first three, the fourth Seychelles-India Day celebrations will officially be launched on Friday at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles. It will run until Sunday October 16.

This celebration is a joint collaborative effort between the High Commission of India in Seychelles, Seychelles-India Day celebration society and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture with the support of the Indian community in Seychelles as well as other business and service organisations.

The celebration is an extravaganza of cultural activities, tourism and business-related events as it brings to Seychelles many Indian celebrities.

After the launch of Seychelles-India Day Image Award on August 20 as well as sports activities like badminton which ended successfully on October and the mini marathon raced on October 8, the next interesting event is the gala night on Saturday October 15 at the Stad Popiler. It is a free entry event and a galaxy of world renowned Indian singers, dancers and instrumentalists will perform and enthrall the Seychellois population.

This event was a great success in 2015 and it is expected that this year’s gala night celebrations will be much more entertaining.

Among the many celebrities who will be visiting Seychelles are singers Padam Bhushan Udit Narayan Jha and Sunidhi Chauhan, dance troupes Rack Dance and Anshwena Team, instrumentalist 72/35 Southern Street and Shibani Dandekar.
