Incentives to raise performance in Maths at Belonie secondary |19 October 2016

Students from S1 to S5 at the Belonie school were recently rewarded after taking part in a Maths competition organised by the school.

The competition was created to motivate and improve students’ performance in Maths, besides giving the opportunity to students to bring out their best in the subject.

The prize giving ceremony took place last week at the school in the presence of head teacher Medge Nancy, the chairman of Parents-Teacher Association (PTA) Jack Micock, PTA members, sponsors, parents, teachers and students.

Head teacher Nancy stated that such activity is aimed at rewarding students who have performed well in Maths and motivated others to do well in the subject.

“Indeed this activity is an initiative of our PTA as part of its ongoing quest to improve the performance of our students in the subject and take our school to new heights and getting the recognition it deserves,” she said.

PTA chairman Jack Micock added that the competition has been introduced to motivate the students to excel in the subject.

“The Maths competition has been added to the school year calendar of activities to motivate the students at all levels, from S1 to S5, to improve and to get better results in the subject. S1 to S5 represents 25 classrooms in all. For this students getting good results in return are rewarded for their efforts,” he said.

He also recognised the role of teachers of the subject in delivering good results each year.

“Here we have to mention that these results have been notably achieved through the great effort the Maths teachers put into their work, and for this we thank them for pushing the students to the limit,” he said.
