The Inter Island Boats staff in action
It is not easy for some organisations to find time to help others even though they would like to and this is especially true when you work in the tourism field as you get to work long hours on week days as well as on weekends.
But last Saturday, the Inter Island Boats Ltd company gathered around 20 staff to clean the Au Cap home for the elderly and give it a fresh look as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Joining them was also some charismatic men from the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF).
The team was divided into small groups to give the home a new coat of paint and clean the compound, among other chores.
In the afternoon a special lunch was served for all those who took part as well as the residents.
The residents were so pleased that the staff from Inter Island Boats Ltd had come to offer their help and they did not hesitate to interact with the staff telling stories.
The company’s accountant, Murielle Marie, said that every month they organise an activity to give back to the community.
“We organise a lot of activities for our staff as well as activities aimed at giving back to the community as part of our CSR. Last June we took some children from different orphanages on a day trip to Praslin. Today we are doing a general cleaning, to give the home a fresh look,” she said.
The residents were also entertained with music, dances and traditional games in the afternoon.
