Former triple jumper Arthur Agathine passes away |25 October 2016

 

Former triple jumper Arthur Agathine passed away yesterday afternoon following a short illness.

He was 55 years old and was to celebrate his 56th birthday on December 17.

Mr Agathine was part of the Seychelles team at the XXII Olympiad in Moscow – the first time Seychelles took part in the multisports Games. Competing in the triple jump event, he registered a distance of 14.21 metres in the qualifying round.

Prior to his death, Mr Agathine was an athletics’ coach and also worked with the maintenance agency and was based at Stad Popiler.

He was also the chairperson and coach of the Aga Sonix athletics club, a football referee and a hockey player.

He leaves behind his son Stephen and daughter Cathrina.
