Speaking to the press soon after his two-hour budget address, the Minister for Finance, Trade and Economic Planning Dr Peter Larose  explained that the theme for the budget is ‘Inclusive Development – Opportunities for All’whichsimply means that everybody’s welfare will be taken care of.

“It is a people’s budget, it’s an all-Seychellois budget, inclusive and where nobody is left behind,” Dr larose explained.

He went on to say that the objective of the budget is to be able to take care of the welfare of the people, to allow them to participate in and benefit from the prosperity that our country is enjoying and to encourage them to be more productive.

“We are offering investment opportunities where government is telling the people this is your time so you have to benefit in terms of your investments and you can also save,” Dr Larose explained.

He noted that the focus on the 13th month salary is very crucial. “It is part and parcel of the incentive that allow people to feel appreciated by their respective employer whether as a civil servant or somebody from the private sector,” Dr Larose explained.

He said we may have all the resources  but at the end of the day what really matters is the people.
