Death of senior police officer Winsley Francoise Autopsy report reveals “extensive subarachnoid hemorrhage” as cause of death |14 December 2016

An autopsy report released by the police shows that the late Assistant Superintendent Winsley Georges Françoise died from “extensive subarachnoid hemorrhage” as a consequence of a skull fracture.

A subarachnoid hemorrhage is the bleeding that occurs in the subarachnoid space surrounding the brain.

Fifty-four-year-old Winsley Françoise’s fatal injury was caused when he slipped and fell down a flight of stairs in his house at Mont Fleuri in the early hours of December 8.

The Mont Fleuri police station received a call about the incident around 3.46am and it took them around three minutes to reach his residence.

According to Superintendent François Freminot, co-head of the CID, medical assistance arrived soon afterwards but ASP Françoise showed no sign of life.

Thereupon police officers from the priority crime unit along with the scientific unit were deployed to the scene to gather evidence and start an investigation.

“The police do not have any suspect being detained in the matter and we do not have any person being treated as a suspect. The evidence we have gathered so far are consistent with the injury found on his body,” Superintendent Freminot said.

The police continue their investigation to make sure that all elements concerning the tragedy have been explored.

Superintendent Freminot, on behalf of the Seychelles Police, has extended his heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the late ASP Françoise.

ASP Françoise served the police force for 30 years and was in charge of the south-east region of Mahé.
