Positive reactions to Mancham’s Opinion piece ‘Seychelles beyond the year 2016’ |28 December 2016

From: Juergen Thomas Steinmetz, publisher and president of eTN Corporation, Hawaii, USA

Your great message is on e-turbo.News.com and will be on eTN.travel and our newsletter tomorrow.

Happy New Year to you and to your family.  May 2017 be a good year for all of us.

From: Shaun Johnson, Executive Director of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, Cape Town, South Africa.

I enjoyed your latest piece and very much hope for the sake of the beloved Seychelles that the spirit of rapprochement is sustained. That can only do good for the Seychellois people.

Separately, I hope you have seen the wonderful news, either on Seychelles News Agency or SBC news on Christmas Eve, that a young Seychellois lady has become the first from the islands to win a Mandela Rhodes Scholarship as a member of the Class of 2017! I have so been looking forward to this day – what an achievement to compete against all of Africa from a country of 93,000 people, and go all the way! Young Sheena Talma does Seychelles proud.

My warmest regards

Again, thank you for sharing your delightful opinion and those adorable greetings that you received.

Words paint pictures and sing songs.  Your words always paint such inspiring pictures and sing such lovely, melodious songs.
2017 will certainly be a year of challenging, dramatic changes. Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better…

Perhaps, we are at that time in history. What else can we do but hope for a positive outcome, and yes…God bless us all!
Nourishing best wishes & many blessings for the New Year,

Dear Sir James

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with the family.

Indeed the New Year might present us with many challenges as stated in your most recent Opinion piece 'Seychelles - beyond 2016’, but we must all remain positive in the face of adversity.

Please keep penning your thoughts during the course of next year as I believe your words of truth and wisdom serve as a source of inspiration for most of us and a constant reminder that peace within gives us ‘Peace of Mind’.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous year 2017 and may we always maintain a good working relationship.

Big and strong voice of hope, exhortation and determination from a small and fragile country!

It chimes well with the message of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE, declaring 2017 as the Year of Giving.

Your words “we must not only look for privileges in our society but also realise the responsibilities which come with them” as well as “we must now start to walk the talk” are extremely significant at this juncture.

From: Alain Butler-Payette of Seychelles

“Dear Sir James, An excellent piece, very moving and inspiring. May I take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a Happy and Prosperous New Year.”
