Ceps chairman Jules Hoareau’s end-of-year message |31 December 2016

‘Let our differences be the source of our strength’

“We need to appreciate that as citizens of Seychelles our differences must be the source of our strength now that our country is at an exciting crossroad,” Jules Hoareau has said.

The Citizens Engagement Platform of Seychelles (Ceps) chairperson, who is also the president of the SADC-CNGO, said this in his end-of-year message which reads:

“As Seychellois citizens we share many common factors which are the pillars of our diversity. Despite our differences we belong to one human race and we share a common identity as Seychellois. As we embrace a new year, I would like to call on everyone to unite as a nation in love, harmony and in peace.  Our country is at an exciting crossroad and we need to appreciate that as citizens our differences must be the source of our strength.

“National unity will consolidate our success and reinforce our social coherence.  National unity is the backbone of the reconciliation process that we need for our country.

“As the chairperson of the board of the civil society platform I am calling on all political and religious leaders to uphold the value of national unity and mutual respect. I am equally calling on the government to work together with the civil society and religious leaders in initiating the national reconciliation process.

“Citizens let us respect the political, religious, social and other rights of our fellow brothers and sisters and through our actions let us promote national unity and reconciliation. Our diversity is the beauty and strength of our nation and unity is our compass to prosperity.

“Let the call for 2017 be ‘Seychellois Unite’.

“Happy and blessed New Year”.
