Ceps to conduct its first national civil society survey |16 January 2017

Since its inception in November of 2014, the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps) has been the only platform in the country working towards regrouping all non-state actors in the country.

Ceps add value to the development of the country by enabling civil society to engage with the state in pursuing development strategies, while acting on behalf of its members.

By regrouping civil society organisations (CSOs) and getting them to work together, their members can play a concerted role in nation building.

In Seychelles there are over 400+ registered associations of which 62 are accredited members of Ceps.

In order to strengthen its position as the national platform, Ceps will be conducting a survey during the month of April 2017, in the form of a questionnaire.

Through the survey Ceps is hoping to:

  • Link up with all registered associations in the country, who are not members with Ceps;
  • Create a national database of CSOs;
  • Collect statistics on the number of volunteers and paid staff, working within the civil society sector;
  • Identify the different sectors and targeted groups which CSOs are contributing towards;
  • Obtain information on the types of activities being organised and projects being implemented;
  • Understand how substantial is the contribution of the civil society sector in Seychelles.

The questionnaires have been sent by post to the chairpersons of all the registered associations in the country.  Participating organisations are being asked to return the completed questionnaire to the Ceps secretariat, room 208, Second Floor at Orion Mall; or scanned and send via email to info@ceps.sc
