Hello World! This is Seychelles |30 January 2017

As the people of Seychelles make their daily movements on our beautiful island paradise, across the Oceans in the Arabian cosmopolitan city of Dubai, proud Seychellois came together to represent their island in an amazing rendition, highlighting the island’ s music and traditional dance.

The Hello World Event was organised at the Emirates Group Headquarters in Dubai UAE and was held on January 11, 2017. There are over 160 nationalities employed by the organisation and it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the diversity in culture, traditions and languages. The event was attended by over 300 Emirates staff and guests.

Seychelles was a proud participator in the event and the members representing the islands were Stephanie Mederic and Nathalie Maillet who are both Seychellois staff members working with the Emirates Group. They were accompanied by fellow Mauritian Jack Jhoolun. Together they did a demonstration of Seychelles’ traditional dance the Sega, followed by a brief presentation showcasing the island’s history and tradition.

The islanders also showcased the islands’ traditional costumes.

Such events depict another great opportunity to display the island’s vibrant and dynamic customs highlighting that the archipelago goes way beyond its amazing natural beauty.

The event gave the opportunity to its participants to set up tables with artefacts representing their country. The Seychelles corner with its tropical colours was definitely one of the favourites, as guests were eager to take photos with the participating members and were thoroughly impressed at the vibrancy of the island’s colours.
