LDS opens doors of new office |06 February 2017

Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) supporters and the public in general now have a place where they can meet the party’s executive members and officers.

This is through its new office located at Lakaz Seselwa, Mont Fleuri which was opened on Friday afternoon in a short ceremony in the presence of the leaders of LDS council, members of LDS executive committee, LDS members of the National Assembly (MNAs), supporters and other guests.

The ceremony kicked off with the playing of the national anthem and raising of the national and LDS flag, followed by prayers and blessing of the office by Father Collin Underwood.

The party leader and chairman of the executive committee Roger Mancienne unveiled the commemorative plaque to inaugurate the office.

In his remarks Mr Mancienne said the opening of the new office is an opportune time to put LDS forward and give it a re-inauguration.

“This office will be a place of work, a place of gathering for the LDS family and all Seychellois families so I hope it will be a place which is very active and where many will come to visit,” he said.

He said a lot of work has been put into refurbishing the building and he is proud and happy with the result.

Mr Mancienne said 2017 will be a very active and memorable year for LDS and that soon its new structure will be revealed so that there can be more effective work done.

The leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Wavel Ramkalawan said the members have learned a lot in the first three months spent in the National Assembly,.

“As from February 14 we will start a new chapter and in the National Assembly all members are serious and determined. I can stand here and promise you that we will continue making this Assembly, our Assembly,” he said.

He hopes that the new office will enable them to bring our country towards a new chapter.

He also shared the message of togetherness and unity.

Other leaders of the LDS council, namely Patrick Pillay, Alexia Amesbury, Robert Ernesta and Philip Boulle, also shared remarks of gratitude and unity.

The administration officer who will be based at the office from 9am to 5pm is Dave Barallon and in a month, Catherine Rose will be appointed as the policy and communications officer.
