Seychelles will be represented by a team of six cyclists at the 2017 African Continental Road Championships that will take place in Luxor, Egypt from February 14-19.

Seychelles’ cyclist of the year, Ahmad Arissol, will lead the team of six, which also features Dominic Arrisol, Christopher Gerry, Mario Ernesta, Xerxes Larue and Stephan Belle.

The team will be accompanied by two officials and will leave Seychelles tomorrow.

The annual event comprises men and women categories. The men’s category has three sub categories namely; juniors (U18), Under 23 and Men elite, who compete in Road Race, Individual Time Trial (ITT) and Team Time Trial (TTT).

On the other hand, the women category comprises two sub categories which are; juniors and women elite also competing in Road Race, Individual Time Trial (ITT) and Team Time Trial (TTT).

The cyclists have already had competitive action in preparation for the championships, where Ahmad Arissol has won two of the four races so far this year, with Christopher Gerry and Dominic Arrisol the other winners, proving that the team has the potential to produce some good results.

Eritrea won the men’s elite team time trial gold for a record sixth consecutive time last year at the championships in Morocco and will be looking to defend their title this time around.
