Independent School records ‘excellent’ A-level and IGCSE results |09 February 2017

 

 

 

• 100% Pass Rate, 69.9% at Credit or Distinction for A’LEVEL

 

Independent School students have once again shone in the Cambridge IGCSE examinations, which are taken in more than 2900 schools in over 140 countries around the world. The pass rate for the school is 100% at A-level and 99.5% at IGCSE level.

 

A Level results

Twenty-two Year 2 students sat a total of 73 exam entries, out of which 7 students sat for 4 subjects.

50% of the students achieved 3C’s or better, with 3 students clinching 3A’s or better.

70% of all the grades are C and above.

Outstanding performance came from Sean Pillay who scored 1A*, 2 ‘A’s and a B, Vadrine Boulle who scored 1A*, 2 ‘A’s and a C, and Alessia Lavigne with 1 A* and 2 ‘A’s. Other high performance came from Chloe Adeline with 2 ‘A’s and a B, Raina Dhanjee with 3 ‘B’s and a C, and Emy-Lee Lucas with 1A and 2 ‘B’s.

All but two students have acquired the required points to obtain a scholarship from ANHRD.

 

The school has wished all the students continued success as they proceed either to university or the world of work.

At AS level, 37 students sat a total of 126 exam entries, out of which 13 students sat for 4 subjects and 1 sat for 5 subjects. 40.5 % of the students achieved three c^s or better, with 7 students scoring 3 a^s or better.

58.7 % of all the grades are c^ and above.

Excellent results came from Anna Yang who achieved 4 a^s and a b^, as well as Laura Montano, Joel Morgan, Nisha Pillay and Laurent Pool who scored 4 a^s. Other high performance came from Adam Afif who scored 3 a^s and a b^, Coralie Frichot with 3 a^s and a ‘c’ and Brigitte Cave with 2 a^s and 2 b^s.

 

As per in the previous years, about two thirds of the students have obtained grades between a^ and c^. Students have achieved top grades in Chemistry, History, Economics, Biology, Mathematics and Physics. This group of students move to A2 level this year.

“We applaud those who gave a very good performance and we hope they will continue working with zeal as they prepare for the next set of examinations. We also urge the other students to put more effort into their studies and to work seriously in order to improve their grades,” says a communiqué from the school.

 

IGCSE eesults

72 students sat a total of 675 exam entries. 10 students scored at least 5A*’s and better; 53 students (or 73.6% of the year group) scored 5 or more grades between A* and C. 33.3% of the grades are A and A* while 71.7% of all the grades are between A* and C. This year, 10 students have achieved outstanding results denoting a slight increase compared to 2015.

French as a foreign language, English as a second language are two subjects where most students scored excellent grades followed by English Literature, Chemistry, ICT and Mathematics. 

 

 

68 students also sat for the DELF Scolaire exam. Four students sat for A2, 54 for B1 and 10 students sat for B2 level. There was a 100% pass rate.

We congratulate all the students for their hard work and wish them the very best in their further studies and careers.
