Police Communique - Search for missing German tourist stepped down |16 February 2017

The police have reported that they have stepped down the physical land and coastal search operations to find missing German visitor Norbert Franz Fleischmann.

The search started on January 29 soon after Mr Fleischmann was reported missing on Praslin by his wife.

The police said that even though physical search stopped on Monday this week, they remain on alert and will give due attention to any fresh information that may come up in connection with the missing German.

According to the wife, her husband had left Anse Lazio at around 11.30 am on Saturday January 28 to walk to Anse Georgette, a trail he had planned to go on. The wife said that was the last time she had seen him.

Two family members who came down to give support to Mrs Fleischmann and to follow development in that case have already left the country end of last week after expressing their appreciation for support given to them during their difficult moment and also for due attention and effort invested by the local authorities in trying to find Mr Fleischmann.

Resources deployed for the search were the police, Fire and Rescue Services officers, Seychelles Coast Guard, Marine Police, National Parks Authority personnel, Zil Air Helicopter, tracking dogs and also some ordinary citizens.
