Football: Caf club competitions - Côte d’Or, St Michel look to reverse scores this weekend |18 February 2017

League champions Côte d’Or and Pillay R Group Cup winners St Michel will both be looking to reverse a 2-0 deficit this weekend in the second leg of their continental matches.

Praslin-based outfit Côte d’Or are in Ethiopia where they have the massive task of needing to score at least three unanswered goals after suffering a 0-2 loss at the hands of St Georges at Stad Amitié in their preliminary round first leg match in the Caf Champions League.

In this match, Côte d’Or got caught in the 40th minute as Malagasy defender Jimmy Radafison was dragged into midfield before the ball was spread out to Assefa Behailli whose centre was intercepted by Benoit Marie, but the ball hit goalkeeper Jean-Paul Lesperance and dropped invitingly to Ahmed Salahdin Said who accepted the windfall to bury it into a gaping goal to make it 1-0.

The second goal started from the impressive Behailli’s through ball to Salahdin who glided past captain Jones Joubert’s tackle and eluded goalkeeper Lesperance’s intervention to slot the ball into an empty net to make it 2-0 as he bagged his brace.

Côte d’Or now have a mountain to climb in the match which takes place tomorrow.

As for St Michel, they suffered a defeat by the same margin, although their task is a bit easier than Côte d’Or’s as they will be in front of their own fans today at 4.30pm at Stad Linite, where only a win by more than three goals will guarantee progress to the next round of the Caf Confederations Cup.

It was Krongo Hassan who opened the score in the 27th minute in the first leg match in Sudan, while on 67 minutes, the hosts doubled their lead through Rahim Moez.

For those who will not be at Stad Linite to see St Michel in action, the match will be broadcast live on SBC TV.

Sports NATION has also been informed that the season-opening President’s Cup match will also be shown live on local television.
