NDEA communiqué - Les Mamelles man arrested with suspected heroin and digital scale |22 February 2017

A 34-year-old man in possession of some substance suspected to be heroin was arrested on Sunday at Les Mamelles by NDEA agents who were patrolling the area.

The man was stopped while he was standing by the roadside next to a wall where he tried to hide something when he saw the NDEA vehicle approaching him.

After being searched, the agents found with him a wrapped piece of white plastic with suspected heroin and a blue digital scale plus a sum of R4,200 in different denominations.

He was arrested for possession of a controlled drug and later taken to the NDEA station for further formalities where a case for trafficking in a controlled drug was registered against him for the court. 

He was transferred to the Central Police station and released on Monday February 20, 2017 with conditions. He is to report back to the NDEA station on March 6, 2017 for more formalities.
