Tourists in awe after meeting the president of Seychelles |24 February 2017

During his recent visit to La Digue and Praslin, President Danny Faure met and interacted with tourists of various nationalities who were passing by on La Digue. President Faure was taking a leisurely stroll down the road from the STC supermarket towards the jetty at La Passe where he met he met both locals and tourists along the way. The president made time for them by having a handshake, a little chat asking about their health, how they are faring in life, how they see their holidays in Seychelles.

To the tourists this was an awesome experience as they could have never imagined in their wildest dreams, that they would meet a president of country that close and even chatted with him. A Chinese couple kept asking each other if they have really met and talked to the president of Seychelles as they just could not believe it. Another Ethiopian group, who was on their first visit to Seychelles, said this kind of interaction will never happen in Ethiopia. Some even had selfies with the president.

Another German lady, also on her first visit to Seychelles, was so emotional by the encounter that she kept following President Faure in his stroll and his every stop, with a broad smile stuck to her face. She is Autje Ludwig and she even accepted to share her impression on such an encounter:

“I enjoy it here. It is my first day here on the island. I enjoy the Seychelles, I enjoy it very much. It’s really a paradise. And then I meet the president and he is so sympathetic. It was a very special moment for me. I enjoyed it very much. I can’t explain my emotion.

“I will call my friend back home and tell her you can’t believe what is happening now in Seychelles. That’s very special,” said Autje. She even took a picture with President Faure as souvenir.

On his way inside the Valle de Mai President Danny Faure also stopped for a chat with a French family who was just coming out of the reserve after visiting it.
