Kenyan national is the ‘Cash Plus Millionaire’ |28 February 2017
There were no words strong enough to describe the joy of Kenyan national Mohamed Mwapati Zuberi as he received a cheque for 1 million Kenyan Shillings as the mega prize of the special nine months promotion.
Launched in May last year the ‘You can be a Cash Plus Millionaire’ promotion organised by Cash Plus of the Pillay R Group and Xpress Money ran until January last month and Mr Zuberi was the luckiest out of the 10 lucky winners of the promotion.
Presenting Mr Zuberi to the audience after his name was announced Sharath Kumar, Cash Plus’ operations and business development manager who put together the event described him as a very lucky person and a ‘Cash Plus millionaire’.
“He has been a very good customer of Cash Plus, transacting twice a month,” she noted.
An ecstatic and emotional Mr Zuberi said winning the promotion has done a very good thing to his life.
“I am more than very happy. Thank you so much God, thank you very much Cash Plus from top to bottom, you have really done an amazing and unexpected thing to my life and I am proud of you guys,” he exclaimed.
He asked all his fellow Kenyans transacting through Cash Plus as well as all the other competitors who qualified for the draw to be happy for him, noting that one day their turn will come and they too will be lucky.
He said since he arrived here six years ago he has been sending money to his family through Cash Plus and he has never lost hope.
An overjoyed Mr Zuberi, who works with the Eden Island marina, said he is going to use the money – which amounts to almost US $10,000 – to build a house back home.
The prize giving ceremony took place on Saturday evening during a cocktail at the Asian Fusion Restaurant, Au Cap.
Besides the mega prize winner, nine lucky winners were also awarded with 25,000 each in their country’s currency.
The nine lucky winners are all expatriates from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya and Bangladesh.
‘You can be the Cash Plus Millionaire’, described as a very successful promotion by its organisers, was aimed at engaging with and encouraging their loyal customers. Every customer who made 12 or more transactions during the promotion period qualified for the lucky draw to win a million in their country’s currency.
Through this campaign, the organisers saw a double digit growth in transactions during the promotion period.
François Rose, the managing director of Cash Plus Bureau de Change said: “Cash Plus started its operations in January 2009 and has since expanded its network to 10 branches across the country and evolved as the first choice for money changing and money transfer needs of the people.”
He went on to note that efficiency of its services, offering among the best exchange rates and charges structure are the key pillars for Cash Plus’ success in Seychelles’ financial market.
He congratulated the lucky winners of the promotion and extended heartfelt gratitude to all customers/clients who over the years have chosen Cash Plus for all their money transactions and have remainrd loyal.
“This shows that we are doing something very good and I am very happy for you our clientele because without you we are nothing, we depend on you for our business,” Mr Rose said, noting that around 30,000 people transact with Cash Plus annually and this is increasing.
Ramu Pillay, the chairman of Pillay R Group, said: “The aim of the promotion as promised is to keep encouraging customers and share good things with the people and like always what we promise we deliver,” Mr Pillay said, adding that more exciting promotions are on the way.
Amit Shrimali, the regional head of Xpress Money, also added his voice in congratulating the winners and thanking customers for choosing the money changer and transfer service.
He described the promotion as a magnificent and excellent one, noting that since Xpress Money was launched through Cash Plus in 2011, there has been regular yearly promotions each as exciting as the other.
“We are always coming up with something new and exciting and we will always try to do so and live up to our reputation and not disappoint our clients,” Mr Shrimali said.
