Secondary students sensitised on work ethics |30 March 2017

As part of efforts to raise people’s awareness of the importance of productivity, the Ministry of Employment, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Innovation and the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) have organised diverse sessions for secondary students on good work morals.

Yesterday morning a group of S4/S5 students from English River school attended a session on work ethics, with the aim of enhancing their awareness of the Code of Conduct and attitude before heading to post-secondary or even in employment.

The session was conducted by SNYC counsellor Beryl Dodin.

“This session gave the students an opportunity to talk about good work ethics in society. It also enabled them to further their knowledge of good values, discipline in their work and productivity. Those students will soon be going to work or into post-secondary institutions, but first they have to master the importance of good work ethics in the society,” she said.

A strong work ethic is vital at a school or work place to achieve goals. Every student, employee  ̶ from the CEO down  ̶  must have good work ethics to keep everything functioning at its peak. A work ethic is a set of moral principles employees or students use.

Besides English River, the session about good work ethics was also held at the Pointe Larue, Anse Boileau and Anse Royale secondary schools.
