Football: Division three league - Pointe Larue Bazar Brothers overcome Beau Vallon |12 May 2017

Pointe Larue Bazar Brothers thrashed a young Beau Vallon side 7-0 in a third division league fixture played on Wednesday afternoon at Stad Popiler.

This was the biggest win so far for the Bazar Brothers who were playing their sixth match since registering to take part in the league.

The win sends Pointe Larue Bazar Brothers to second position on 12 points, one behind leaders Plaisance. Beau Vallon remain last on the league table with just two draws in six games played.

During the opening 10 minutes, the two teams played at almost the same level but then Pointe Larue Bazar Brothers applied their foot on the accelerator and their effort paid off in the 22nd minute. After receiving a pass on the right wing, Robert Joubert accelerated past Jean-Luc Poris and centred to Ryan Labrosse who beat Beau Vallon goalkeeper Hakeem Auguste for a 1-0 lead.

Beau Vallon were finding it hard to contain the Pointe Larue Brothers’ attacking line and four minutes later Robert Joubert sent in another cross from the right for Marcus Arrisol whose powerful header beat goalkeeper Auguste for a 2-0 lead. Goalkeeper Auguste was injured in the action and had to be replaced by Trevor Sopha.

Pointe Larue Bazar Brothers piled more pressure on Beau Vallon as they played some long balls forward and after some near misses they did score their third goal in the 30th minute. Ryan Labrosse picked up a loose ball outside the penalty area and dribbled past the defence before unleashing a low shot past goalkeeper Sopha for his second goal of the game (3-0).

Beau Vallon were really unlucky as they also had to replace the injured Pethro Sophola and Aaron Sinon with Darius Rose and ex-Northern Dynamo player Denis Matatiken.

After a one-two with Elmar Felix, in the 51st minute Robert Joubert, who was having a good game on the wing, added his name on the score sheet as his low shot from outside the penalty area went past goalkeeper Sophola for a 4-0 lead for Pointe Larue Bazar Brothers.

Goalkeeper Sophola had to pick up the ball in the net once again four minutes later after Marcus Arrisol lobbed him (5-0).

A crestfallen Beau Vallon though tried to find a consolation goal from the few chances they created but all their efforts were not on target.

After coming on as a substitute in the 62nd minute, Mario Mathiot and Jean-Claude Berlouis added more salt to Beau Vallon’s wound.

Labrosse came in through the middle and played the ball to Berlouis whose 89th minute low shot beat goalkeeper Sophola for a 6-0 advantage.

Pointe Larue Bazar Brothers had time to score another goal and Ryan Labrosse was once again involved in the build-up.

In the last minute of added time, Labrosse picked up a ball on the right wing and sent in a cross to Mario Mathiot who beat goalkeeper Sophola as the referee blew the final whistle.

Pointe Larue Bazar Brothers deserved to celebrate their 7-0 victory ‒ their biggest this season.

Joel Vidot was very happy with the win and said: “We wanted to get the three points and be at the top of the league as we had lost two consecutive games recently. We have recruited some players and this has kind of motivated the regular players to attend training. This is why we got this result. From now on the players will have to fight for a place on the team”.

Beau Vallon assistant coach Jules Adolphe was very unhappy with his team’s performance and also not satisfied with the officiating.

“It’s not because we have been beaten, but there are certain instances when some calls should have been in our favour and the referee did not even consult his assistants. On the whole, Beau Vallon did not play well at all. Our team is very young comprising only school students except for three senior players. Our biggest problem is goalkeeping. Our goalkeepers are too young and lack skills.

The following is the league table following Wednesday’s game.
