Club members discover career opportunities at MAIA resort

A group of YSB (Youth Services Bureau) club members were treated to a familiarisation visit at the prestigious five-star MAIA Luxury Resort & Spa. The visit featured on the calendar of holiday activities organised by the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC). The main aim of the visit was to get the youths to experience first-hand career opportunities available at the resort.

Upon arrival, the club members and SNYC staff were warmly greeted and briefed about the plan for the visit. Bernard Marie and his colleague Barry Françoise took the group to visit the establishment by buggy, stopping at picturesque spots so that the group could take in the amazing scenes and take souvenir photos.

During the tour, the guides were attentive to the group and were keen to answer all questions raised.

A visit inside one of the villas was also included and the group really appreciated the level of cleanliness and the tasteful furniture and decorations inside.

Following the guided tour, the youths got the opportunity to meet the human resource manager of the resort, Pamela Camille, and personal assistant to the general manager, Carol Albert, for a chat and refreshments.

The YSB members did not hesitate to ask many questions about the resort and options available to them.

Miss Camille stated that MAIA resort targets a niche market of people seeking to rejuvenate their minds, body and spirit in a peaceful location or for those who want to treat their families in a private and safe setting.

The resort also caters for personalised weddings that take care of every detail and need of bride and groom or partners. With this in mind, all staff of the resort must be in a position to provide top-notch service that anticipates clientele needs and exceed their expectations.

The HR manager went on to explain that ample career opportunities are available for young people at MAIA as long as the candidates are punctual, passionate for the job and display the right attitude.

There are also several perks that the staff benefit from and some are also extended to their family members.

The resort also puts a lot of emphasis on ‘living TSOGO’, which is a programme that aims to inculcate a set of values in staff members. The programme rewards those who put in the most effort in the implementation of the values. The set of values are: Teamwork, Service, Opportunity, Growth, and Ownership (TSOGO).

The visit concluded with a hearty lunch provided by the resort.

Overall, the group had a wonderful time and the youths felt that the visit opened their eyes to opportunities available to them in the country’s tourism sector.
