Thick eyebrow trend |26 May 2017

Gone are the days of thin fine eyebrows. Say hello to thick, bushy and bold eyebrows.

Brows are serious business now. We see it on runways and red carpets, celebrities and models are rocking fuller brows. The thick eyebrow trend is more focused than clothes on runway.

The best way to fill your brow is by using brow gel, pencil, wax or powder. Choose a colour that’s lighter than your brows. Avoid black as it can look too heavy. Depending on your choice, the key to perfect brows is blending. Invest in a good eyebrow kit. To fill your brows, first load your brush with some product and start at the inner corner. Stroke the brush outward and lightly fill the arch as well. Never try to fill all your hair as it look too drawn on. Finally, set your brows with brow gel or clear mascara.

Year One Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) student, Maia Suleman says she keeps her eyebrows tidy to keep up appearances in the course she is following.

“I prefer to wax my eyebrows and because I don’t have much eyebrows, I don’t like shaping it neither too thin nor too thick, it will look weird,” she says.

Amila Moncherry who started shaving her eyebrows last year says she is scared to try other methods such as threading, waxing or tweezers as she heard that it is painful.

“I think it looks nicer when it’s fuller and since I have naturally thick eyebrows I don’t need to fill it in using any product,” she said.

Heather Durup who also uses blades to shape her eyebrows feels like she might get hurt using thread.

“Thicker eyebrows are the new trend, and having fine eyebrows doesn’t look as nice,” she says.

Grand Anse Mahé resident Josette Isaac says she has her son remove her eyebrows with a blade as well as the other methods are painful and will get swollen.

“It’s been a while since I have actually gotten my eyebrows done but usually I like it when it starts of thick leading to a thinner finishing,” she says.

Jeanne Tah Ezu who has never removed her eyebrows says she likes to keep it natural.

“I appreciate seeing other women who keep their brows up to date and I think the full natural look is really trending. I sometimes like to fill them in with a pencil for special occasions and if I were to remove them I’d use a razor,” she says.

Meryl Pelissier, Plaisance who shapes her eyebrows at least once a week says waxing alone does do the trick.

“I’ve been doing it since I was about 13 and like to wax and twiz them on my own as I do not go to the spa. I have all the necessary equipment needed to take care of my eyebrows,” she says.

Ms Pelissier says she used to use eyeliner to fill in her brow but switched to using eyebrow crayon for a lighter shade.

“Nowadays people are going more towards the natural look and I think whether it should be thick or fine depends on the person’s face,” she says.

18-year-old Juliette Pool says someone shapes her eyebrows for her at least once a month using a blade.

“I prefer the shaving method and it is less painful and looks more on point. I like having a fuller brow as it suits the shape of my face better compared to when it is thin,” she says.

22-year-old Tania Panagary who started shaping her eyebrow since her secondary graduation finds waxing or using twizzers more effective when it comes to shaping hers.

“I usually do it at least once a month because I like to let it grow out before my next removal. For the shape I like when it goes from a fuller brow to a thin finishing and I don’t use products to fill them in as it looks better natural,” she says.

Meanwhile Vanessa Bastienne gets her brow done on a weekly basis and thinks that waxing makes it looks tidier and gives it a nicer shaper.

“I think the thick eyebrows look more elegant and natural,” she says.

Marilou Marie uses twizzers to remove her eyebrows and crayon to shape them.

“I’ve never tried waxing but I find that twizzing keeps them from growing faster compared to shaving. A good look for me is when it’s not too thin nor too thick,” she says.

Lizelle Cesar who is currently residing in Italy says she had a brow transplant.

“They last for a period of three years and there isn’t much maintenance to it. I think women should go for the shape which suits their taste,” she says.

22-year-old, Ivy Tirant confesses to never trying other methods apart from shaving.

“I heard that waxing is painful so I’m staying away from that. I usually just get my eyebrows done while I’m at the hair salon which could be every two months,” she says.

She sometimes uses pencil to fill in her brow depending on her mood or where she is going.

Natacha Joubert from Pointe Larue says she does not follow the trends.

“I get my eyebrows done once in a while when i feel like it. It’s not a must for me. I opt for a thicker look using thread,” she says.
