FetAfrik 2017 - African gala night pulls big crowd |30 May 2017

As Mangouya Studio models strutted their stuff on the catwalk, local musicians displayed their talents to the applause of the big crowd during Saturday’s African gala held at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel.

The gala was organised by the Creative Industries and National Events Agency (Cinea) within the Ministry for Youth, Sport and Culture as part of activities for this year’s FetAfrik.

Youth, Sports and Culture Minister Idith Alexander and culture principal secretary Benjamine Rose were among the invited guests at the event.

The event started with delicious African cuisine being served followed by wonderful performances by the national troupe who showed off the Seychelles traditional dances with a mixture of African traditional dances.

Models from the Mangouya Studio also strutted their stuff on stage in the Mangouya African creations, showcasing the different styles which can be incorporated in Seychelles.

Another striking segment of the evening was a colourful collection from top South Africa designer Rich Sumani Mnisi.

Guests with the most stunning traditional African outfits also won prizes. These include a one-night stay on bed and breakfast on double standard room sponsored by Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay and R1,000 voucher from Deepam Cinema.

Local artists like Jean-Marc Volcy, Smash Kid were also present to entertain the crowd and the night ended with a disco punctuated by mostly African music.
