Sainte Anne Resort & Spa to close down for major renovations |08 June 2017

The new Mauritius Hotels Ltd, owners of the Sainte Anne Resort & Spa, officially announced yesterday that the resort will close down as from September 3 for major renovation works as part of its major re-development plan.

The delay for obtaining the required planning permission and to carry on the work will require a closure of the resort for over at least the coming two years, according to a communiqué from the resort.

It adds that under these circumstances and due to economic imperatives, the resort will unfortunately find itself in a situation where it has to inevitably terminate the employment of its staff. In this respect, a formal application was lodged on Monday June 5, 2017 with the Minister for Employment, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Innovation, and the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine.

The communiqué adds that the owners of the resort intend to fully comply with its obligations with regard to the whole staff and will settle all compensation as prescribed by law.

Furthermore, staff members wishing to re-join the resort after the re-development period will be granted employment priority.

The details of the redevelopment of the resort will be announced in due course. It is expected that it will substantially increase the employment capacity of the resort and therefore offer more jobs.
