In the National Assembly this week - Two ministers to answer questions |12 June 2017

Two ministers will be in the Assembly this week to answer questions from the members.

The Minister for Finance, Trade and Economic Planning, Dr Peter Larose will answer 10 oral questions relating to his ministry and also an urgent question from the Leader of Government Business Charles Decommarmond on United Helvetic Bank Limited Banking License.

Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Minister Maurice Loustau-Lalanne will also answer an oral question from Honourable Churchill Gill regarding maritime security in relation to the tragedy of May, 1, 2017. The minister will also answer a private notice question from the Leader of the Opposition, Honourable Wavel Ramkalawan, relating to the end-of-contract for partnership between Air Seychelles and Etihad; and finally an urgent question by the Leader of Government Business, Charles Decommarmond, who will be seeking information about Seychelles’ position in relation to the Middle East crisis involving Qatar.

In addition there will be five motions:

● Honourable Charles De Commarmond, Leader of Government Business, will be moving that the Assembly resolves to ratify the two fishing agreements between Seychelles and Mauritius.

● Honourable Wavel Ramkalawan, Leader of the Opposition ‒ Continuation of debate regarding the new structure for La Digue management in order to better manage the inhabitants’ concerns.

● Honourable Jude Valmont, member for Pointe Larue, that government establishes mechanism to identify and monitor economic activities in the informal sectors for small businesses.

● Honourable Jean-Francois Ferrari, member for Mont Fleuri, regarding stevedores’ new payment tariffs.

● Honourable Churchill Gill, member for Baie Ste Anne Praslin, is calling the Assembly to consider profits and revenue made from the Vallée De Mai reserve, so that a percentage of the revenue be allocated in a fund to be able to develop small projects to benefit the inhabitants of the two districts on Praslin.
