Letter to the Editor - Putting emphasis on ‘Transparency’ |23 June 2017

Beyond anyone’s imagination, corruption is a crime and at no point in time should it be a norm in this modern society.

Whilst some of our people are struggling to make ends meet, others have profited and benefited inappropriately through corruptive acts for their own personal gains, their families and/or selective beneficiaries.

The time has come for the people to claim their rights to the country’s assets and capital. The time has come to shatter down the corrupted minds, as our new leaders and incumbent President unlock tactical strategies and systematically underlying principles to transform, energise and clean Seychelles; not just for the political agenda, but for greater welfare of the people of Seychelles.

At this point in time, we should be done with ‘incest’ in our civilised society, where ‘damages’ to common law malpractices should be fair and equitable remedies for our people. Peace and justice are the resounding echoes for Truth and National Reconciliation within our beloved country Seychelles.

Within the ‘New Seychelles’, no man should stand above the rest, Seychelles is too denoted for that and greater than us all, where ‘togetherness’ is the underlying key to better prosperity of the people.

There is resounding echoes across the country for the rich to help the poor, the able to help the vulnerable, the capable to help the needy, as we must all hold hands to ‘make a child smile’ and more importantly to ‘leave no child behind’ as we forge ahead to the betterment of our future and the future of our small island state – Seychelles.

Gone are the days of fighting attributes, internal conflicts, sabotage politics and sarcastic criticisms. Within the spirit of National Reconciliation and National Unity, we need to stand fearless in dignity and walk together as one Seychelles towards a common destiny. We’ve all learnt that politics is a dirty game, but should not be a corruptive one, as the politics of doing what’s best for the people lies in the framework of good governance, accountability and transparency; the same politics that our President Danny Faure is geared towards in this ‘New Seychelles’ within this cohabitation period.

I provide below one of the links on the wide-ranging meaning of ‘Corruption’, for your comprehensive reading, analysis and appraisal of the topic on the National agenda to date;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption

In pursuing my advocacy on National Unity, I perceive that corruptions have a direct link to the welfare of our citizens and may have a direct link to poverty within our country. As a National Unity Advocate, I wish to campaign that Seychelles will overcome poverty once we achieve victory in the fight against ‘corruptions’ and malpractices across the country.

“They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved” (2 Peter 2:19 ESV).

To end my write-up, I continue to place emphasis on the fact that; ‘prosperity of the people depends on how we earmark our economy and democracy, not just for their social welfare, but spiritual gains as well’. “Where Seychelles wins, its people are winners”.
